The Perma Music Library contains full-length scores in a wide variety of styles, from jazz ensembles to 110-piece orchestras. These scores were originally recorded at top studios in Hollywood, Munich and Mexico City between 1955 and 1970. Perma has digitally re-mastered the original tapes with the help of award-winning engineer Joe Gastwirt, magnet mastering by Michael Stern, and veteran record producer Bill Lazerus.

Originally composed, arranged and conducted by Ronald Stein these film scores stretch from the birth of the AIP drive-in classics into the era of Zoetrope Studios where Francis Coppola specifically requested Stein for his new studios first production THE RAIN PEOPLE.

Within the scope of the Perma Music Library you’ll hear Asian, Latin and regional American Folk themes. Soul-stirring military grandeur, mirthful jazz improv, classic 50s rock’n’roll instrumental and vocal riffs, film noir blues, ethereal mood pieces, thunderous action cues and tense suspense themes.

Because Perma owns 100% of the publishing rights, we can offer fast service and excellent rates.

Most libraries offer generic cues, with only the "heads and tails" using the same theme. The Perma Music Library offers an entire score (performed by real musicians, not sampled or performed on a synthesizer), with cues written around recurrent themes. Since the scores were composed and recorded for a specific film, a Perma score is organic, with a multitude of thematic variations within its overall conception. Of course, a customer can also play "mix and match" with various scores, sampling from various genres according to the needs of the project.

Additionally, many features, documentaries and theatrical trailers have been completely "tracked" with existing Perma music, such as the Dennis Hopper chiller Queen of Blood, Universal’s TV series Dateline: Yesterday, documentaries The Gangsters and Vincent Price, My Life and Crimes, and made-for-TV features like In the Year 2889.

Among the many TV series which have requested Ronald Stein cues as source music are The Sopranos, Third Watch, ER, and The Wonder Years. Even rap artist Eminem sampled Ron Stein material for "Guilty Conscience" on his best-selling The Slim Shady LP. Perma soundtracks have been marketed on CD by Varese Sarabande and Percepto Records.
